The UK Shoulder Bioengineering Group has been established to draw together the rapidly growing UK research activities relating to the shoulder and upper limb. The major participants in the activity are as follows: Current research activities are concerned with biomechanical modelling, the biomechanical measurement of shoulder function, the design and development of shoulder implants. All of the activities are interdisciplinary involving close collaboration between engineers, scientists and clinicians. There are also close links with the orthopaedic implant industry. The research is funded by Research Councils, Charities, Government and Industry. The purpose of this website is to raise awareness of the shoulder bioengineering activities in the UK, to provide data and images which are useful to researchers, and to encourage communication between established and new researchers in the field.
